Cottage communities are known to have a tight-knit family feel where everyone feels welcome. Streets are usually scaled to fit just pedestrians and everyone is very neighborly. Many people who live in these communities say that they feel like they belong and there is nowhere else they would rather be. Cottage Living has created a list of these celebrated communities.
In order to be placed on this list the community must have inspiring architecture, walk-able streets, innovative ideas to bring positive change and something unique and uplifting. The number one cottage neighborhood is located Serenbe in Palmetto, Ga. This community is 30 miles southwest of Atlanta and has all of the amenities of the urban city while still having a rural feel.
The second best cottage neighborhood is Baldwin-s Run in Camden, New Jersey. It is a traditional neighborhood with new homes, which has really created a turnaround for this city in recent years. Another wonderful cottage neighborhood is NorthWest Crossing in Bend, a 140-mile drive from Portland. It is a walk-able neighborhood that emphasizes smart growth and integration with the surrounding environment.
Parkview is a small, traditional neighborhood that is fourth on the list of the best cottage neighborhoods. Parkview is located less than a mile south of central Redding, California. The cottage community is built with-in the larger neighborhood of Parkview, which makes it more urban than most of the cottage neighborhoods on the list.
Agritopia is a large, 450 home, cottage neighborhood that stays true to its agricultural heritage. It is located in Gilbert, Arizona which is 22 miles southeast of Phoenix. It was built on a previously unused tract of land, but still has the feel of an older traditional cottage neighborhood, which is why it is the number five neighborhood on Cottage Livings list of the Best Cottage Communities.
All of these cottage communities make their members feel at like they are part of a large family. Any of these five neighborhoods would be a great place to find your dream home and raise a small family or even retire.
